Support is a vital component in any fitness programme. Nobody plans injuries: But they do Happen.
Remember that “RICE” is the first treatment for most acute injuries R (rest) I (ice) C (Compression) E (elevation)
Injury First Aid
Follow the advise of your doctor. These instructions are supplemental. Serious injuries may require physical therapy after doctor's diagnosis.
“RICE” R (rest) I (ice) C (Compression) E (elevation)
Rest
Stop using injured part. Continued activity could cause further injury, delay healing, increase pain, and stimulate bleeding Use crutches or other supports to avoid bearing weight on injuries to the leg, knee, ankle, or foot. Use splint for injuries of the arm, elbow, wrist, or hand
First aid for strains, sprains, contusions, dislocations. Elevation
Elevating injured part above level of heart decreases swelling and pain. Use objects and pillows to elevate the injured limb.
Ice
Improves healing time by reducing swelling around injury Sudden cold contracts blood vessels Helps stop internal bleeding from injured capillaries and blood vessels Keep damp or dry cloth between skin and ice pack Do not apply ice for longer than 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Exercise extreme caution if diabetic.
TheraFlex re-usable Cold/Warm compression packs.
Physicool Elastic Bandages
Continuation treatment for Pain Relief
There are many pain relief products on the market today; We would suggest a topically applied product, preferabley natural (No drugs or Chemicals). We carry a range of such products. These will provide pain relief while simultaneously cooling or warming the injured area.
